Default Ouch: NJ Insurance upped to $4200 / yr?!?

After thinking it was bad enough that I was quoted $3800 / yr by the agent when I got my policy for an S4 from the Prudential in NJ, I just got a letter in the mail saying that my rate is now $4200 / yr!!! I find this to be absurd -- maybe I should just give up and get married?! I could probably support the missus just on the saved car insurance $$!

I'm paying $850 with NJM now. But you have to be "clean" in order to get their policy. Before I had Liberty for around $2000, but $4200!!!?!!! this is ridiculous.

Default Tell me about it

my liberty mutual policy went up 35% this year for no reason at all. I was told it's a "company wide rate increase"

check out nj cure like Dave G said...

Default I'm in eastern PA and only pay $1360.

And that is even with a license suspension for big-time speeding in my RX-7 last year. That caused me to get non-renewed by Donegal. Leader came in with a lower quote even after all that...

That doesn't sound right, how could it possibly be over 2k? Anyone else paying this?

I was paying $1800 / yr for my previous ride, a 1999 ML 320. Looks like the additional $2400 is pretty much all in the "Collision" and "Comprehensive" line items -- meaning this is a high-theft, high-accident "Non-standard performance" vehicle. I am 26, male & single, with 2 points from 2001. I think the "single" part is what's killing my rate... ugh.

Default Welcome to NJ!

I've never paid less than 2000 a year.
