Default Our other S is no S4...

...I was driving my wife somewhere today in her Millenia S. It's no acceleration slouch with 210 supercharged horsepower, and with a luxurious ride, I had never noticed it needing more power. But as we were traveling down a 2-lane highway with a posted limit of 65, we were behind a minivan that had caught slow moving traffic doing about 58mph. After a mile or so of this, I was peering around the cars ahead of me and saw an opening in oncoming traffic. I thought well this will be a pretty easy pass, so I floor it and off I go. Well as I'm passing the minivan (which was about 3 car lengths behind the slow poke in front) I realized it wasn't going to be an easy pass, but nonetheless I would be in no danger of a head-on collision, so instead of somewhat recklessly squeezing in between the two vehicles or braking and ducking back in behind the minivan, I stayed on the gas. As I was even with the front vehicle, the oncoming vehicle veered over onto the shoulder. I'm thinking, boy that's premature, but it was a Buick after all, so I guess I should not be surprised. Sure enough, I put my right signal on and get back in my lane and about 3 seconds later pass the oncoming Buick. Boy did my wife let me have it. I really felt bad, because I honestly didn't think it would even be an issue. Even in my stock S4, the pass would have been effortless (in 3rd gear anyway) to make without drama. But not so in the Millenia S. I guess being able to go from 70 to 100 in my S4 in less than 5 seconds really warps the mind when back in the world of normal acceleration.

Default smaller pulley for more boost? =P

looks like more boost would have spared you the carping.

Default I think I would have needed a LOT smaller pulley...

...at least enough for 40-50 more lb-ft IMO. Part of the problem was gearing. With only a 4-speed automatic to go with, the Millenia redlines in second by 70mph, and then jumps up into 3rd (Drive) which it could run out to about 110mph in. 110mph at 6000rpm is taller than even an S4's 4th, which will do about 106-108 at 6000rpm in 4th (or ~120-122 at 6800rpm), so I really missed out on a gear for the most part too. I'm not even sure if the Millenia downshifted to second when I floored it or not; if it did, it was only in it for a few MPH; if it didn't I was no higher than 3500rpm when I started the pass.

Default Try a '02 Maxima. Torque steer when flooring it at 70mph. A little scary but

plenty fast for passing.

Default You're kidding. I'm no fan either(wife's car) but the 255hp 3.5L is a thing of beauty.

Besides, grew up with Fords. Won't go there.

ciao
