Default I have alum and I've removed mine a few times from both sides. Never a problem.

I think it has more to do with salty environments.

I've read that the aluminum (2000) is easier due to more corrosion on the steel uprights.

Default That's what I was thinking... I'm about to help out with an early VIN '00 control arm / wheel

bearing job. Anything else to watch for? I've recently done my B5 A4 control arms, wheel bearings. I'm hoping to have a similar experience.

Default When I did my control arms, I bought the FCP Groton ones off ebay and the bolt kit from ECS

Bolt kit comes with the pinch bolt.

I used an impact gun and a wrench to take off the nut, and then applied pressure to the end of the bolt while spinning it with the impact to pull it out. Easy.
