Default Possible boost leak.

I need some help. My car "seems" to not have the same mid-range power that it had before. I took a couple friends out yesterday to confirm this. The car seems to have the power from a stop, but while driving around 3000 rpm and giving it gas, the car doesn't take off like before. I was thinking maybe a small boost leak that is not spilling too much simply because the cold is keeping the leak from expanding. If you have any suggestions of what to check, I would appreciate it. Pictures would be great too if you have them. If there is anyone in the Fairfield County area in CT that would like to VAG my car and help me out, I would appreciate it. By the way, the car is completely stock. Thanks.

Default I assume you have no boost gauge?

It may be your TBB. Have you checked it?

Default Saw something similar, where it seems that the turbo(s) crapped out and everything would

build to the right values, but much later in the rpm band...no boost leaks

http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/21977/map_vs_rpm_good_bad.jpg</a

Default I don't have a boost gauge...

I was hoping to see pics of the most common tears in the TBB before I check. So no I haven't yet, was waiting until this weekend. It is too dark by the time I get home from work.

Default

That looks like Jay Mohrs "Map of Hawaii", anyway that's a sign of a slight leak

Default heh ...it's garbled, sorry...but you get the point....no leak found, MAP increases to

normal values...could be a small leak, but I doubt it...oh well... not my car anyway.

take it easy man,
Mike

Default Well the turbos could be working hard to make up for the escaping air, eventually

it'll work so hard, the shaft will warp, the turbos will fail and you'll buy an M Roadster. Life's a bitch I guess
