Using something like the ETKA.

If yes could someone look it up for me

Default Even if that is possible, it may not be accurate. The ECU could have been replaced at some point.
Opening the ECU box is actually quite easy. Using VagCom is even easier.

Default Look up the build date and maybe we can tell you.

Default the build date is 09 2000 so it's got mixed badging and the car is about 250 miles from me at a
dealer so it's hard to get the info that I am looking for

If it has ESP, then I would bet it is H box (or J box if a tip).

Have them VAG it for you. Will show ECU type.
