Price and Gotchas?: looking at a used 2001
Tomorrow I'll be looking at a 2001 sedan with 938 miles
that has everything but nav, phone, and changer. This is
a FSBO. The owner tells me that is also has the RS4
wheels. He also tells me that he is taking a new job
and moving and thus needs to downsize. He tells me
that he is a car fanatic and has been religious about break
in. He quotes an initial price of $39,000. I had been thinking
new avant but this intrigues. What should I look for other than
build post 11/00? Also what is a realistic midwest price?
Thanks
Dave

What is he religous about? As long as he's driving carefully for the first 1k miles, there's nothing else to do yet.
I just found an '01 with 27k miles (!) at a dealership for $38k...of course that can be knocked down quite a bit...for what it's worth.

Yeah, I'd work that deal a little more on the used sedan...
He's not going to get anything close to that on a trade-in. Even though 900+ miles is very low, it's still a used car, can't compare to the sticker on a new one.
If he needs to sell fast, that's good for you too.
But that's just the negotiator in me...
