Pump keeps stopping when I refuel!!!!

I have the same problem but much worse... the tank only takes ~1/10 gallon per pull...

<i>BUT</i>, it was the result of my accident. Still needs to be addressed, hopefully next week.

I had this on my 96 A4Q from the start... they found a miss molded vent line

and had to replace the tank, vent and filler line.

If this just started I wonder if there is a vent valve somewhere in the system that stopped functioning or some trash somewhere?

your vapor cannister is probably saturated...

its under the car, in the indentation for the spare tire.

if you've been topping off the car in the past after the pump stops, then its a saturated cannister.

How soon after hard driving are you filling? and do you take your gas cap off for awhile before.....

you fill. Fuel pumps have whats called vapor recovery systems or vaporvac as they are known. This is part of the EPA and what not. It stops a large amount of fumes from entering the atmosphere. It also lets the pumps click off when the fumes get too close it thinks the tank is full. When you get to the station next time take off your gas cap befoer you start your payment process. IF that does not work see if your ventline, venting system, as imolababy stated, is functioning properly

I had this problem several years ago - Dealer traced it to a bad LDP pump.
