Question about stock clutch life
I'm driving a stock (cept Neuspeed 19mm, short shift, and Toyo T1s) 2000 S4. I'm on the original clutch at almost 40k miles and due to go in for my 40k service in a couple days. My warr ends late Feb 03. I've slipped (as in can smell that nasty clutch stench) the clutch a few times, and I'm afraid it might not be adequate when I chip the car next year. Couple questions: how many miles do most folks get on their stock clutches? Will this clutch go up right after my warranty period, especially with the chip? Should I try to burn my clutch now and get it repleaced under warranty? (also note that I'm planning on getting an extended warranty, but I assume they don't cover clutch replacement) Thanks

A few answers.......
how many miles do most folks get on their stock clutches?
Depends on a lot of factors. Really hard to say how long yours will last.
Will this clutch go up right after my warranty period, especially with the chip?
Very possibly. Heck, my S4 with only 6,000 miles on it had a slipping clutch chipped. Stock chip, it didn't slip. IMHO, the stock clutch (even when fairly new) can't really hold against the torque produced by a chipped 2.7T.
Should I try to burn my clutch now and get it repleaced under warranty?

65,000 miles....stock clutch still - no slipping yet (35,000 miles were chipped)..
I do not track the car and also don't frequently launch hard - but, I certainly do not drive like a grandmother either
