Question regarding indicator light...
New to this forum, so if I miss some etiquette, apologies in advance.
I have a 2000 S4 with 31K miles and have had all scheduled maintenance done on time, etc. Last night an indicator light came on (unsure of actual acronym...3 letter though) and the Owner Manual referred to it as the indicator light that indicates an error has been returned to on-board computer. I do not have access to a code reader and am wondering if anyone has any info. on just which elements of the vehicle report erros through this indicator light (yellow, left side of speedometer).
No other indicator lights are luminated and car ap[pears to drive normally. All gauges also normal. Is this a common occurance and potentially somehting as simple as an O2 sensor?
Any thoughts appreciated.
Thanks,
suorange

"somehting as simple as an O2 sensor?"--O2 sensors are >$200 and tough to change.
Find a VAG near you and scan the car. Where are you?<ul><li><a href="http://www.steve-hall.com/cgi-bin/VAG-Locator.pl">VAG locator</a></li></ul>

Hey Verruckt, my EPC light issue turned out to be...
a gateway issue I believe. Using a vag com I went into the adaptation section under instruments and in channel 60 i changed the code from 1025 to zero and the EPC issue has disppeared ( along with the drive by wire code ) car runs great ! I've logged about 75 miles since then and no problems. I know 2000 models had the codes set to zero. So far so good.

Yep...sry, was not trying to imply that O2 sensor's are cheap or easy to replace. Was merely throwing out a reference point for an issue that could arise and not draw the attention of other sensory mechanisms within the vehicle. I'm in San Francisco, CA.
