Default Question for you people who have blown your turbo's...

Did you guys push your car to the limit on a daily basis? Any non chipped vehicles blow their turbos? I always have a paranoia when driving my car that the turbo's are going to blow. And for chipped vehicles with blown turbo's what chips were you running and how much boost were you running?

Default How can really enjoy your car if you are paranoid all the time???

If complete 100% reliablilty is what you want, get a naturally aspirated Honda. They are as close to bullet-proof as anything I have seen.

If you are stock and in warranty don't worry, it will be covered. If you are chipped, you better be prepared to pay to play. Figure access to, or enough credit for, $6K (minimum).

Just my $0.02.

Default I have an GIAC X-chip and drive the car very hard every day.

The car was bought with a passanger side turbo starting to fail (bearing). It was replaced 3000 miles ago and sounds like the same one is on it's way out again. As a result I am having a hose kit put on and the car looked at because I feel there has to be some thing else causing the turbos to fail. I will not be removing my chip, in my mind the B5 S4 with out a chip is very slow and not worth owning at all for any reason what so ever, I would have kept my A4 1.8Tqm, a stage 2 A4 is as fast as a stock S4 and lighter and cheaper. Your paranoia is going to prevent you from enjoying your car. Get a hose kit, bpvs, and consider a bi-pipe and let your car warm up and cool down. At that point you have done just about every-thing you can do in your power other than not chipping it. I encourage you to drive you car hard and stay on boost as much as you want once you have taken the steps I mentioned and go have fun with your car, with a chip a S4 is alot of fun.
