Check for a coolant leak
The resevoirs have been know to crack in MY2000. It either cracks on the bottom or you get a slow leak from the front side hose. From personal experience, btw.

I don't think it's either...
It's coming out of the exhaust.
If my reservoir was leaking, the car would need to warm up before it would burn and not out the exhaust. *Triple shiver* If it was a blown head gasket, I'd know. It wouldn't be just a puff...I hope!

You WILL get white smoke from the exhaust . . .
that's what made me look under the hood . . . only to find caked up coolant on that front hose, my coolant level low & a ton of coolant stains on the block & engine covers.
If it's not, then that's one less thing to worry about.
