Default Ready for lift-off...

Decided to try Imolavirus' method and just pull the engine off the front leaving the tranny in. Removing lower tranny bolts is a major PITA. Took most of the day pulling all ten bolts.

This was a good idea but one major gotcha, downpipes must be removed before the engine can be pulled. My understanding is that this is a major PITA also. I know what I'll be doing tonight. I think that the DP removal may take a special wrench IIRC. Anyone know what that would be?

Anyway, I have the engine separated from the tranny now and as soon as DPs come off it's liftoff time. Got the cherry picker ready to go for tomorrow.

Default LOVE the foreground.

Looks like a happy dog.

Not too good at passing a wrench, but great company.

Default why aren't you pulling the subframe out again?

jon (x1-racer) and i pulled the engine + subframe + tranny + downpipes in about 8 hours...neither one of us knowing what we're doing.

once it was out, i said "so why are these downpipe bolts a bitch again??". they're easy as cake to get to once the whole thing is out.

seems your way is a much bigger hassle.

Default Re: Ready for lift-off...

I just got done doing this myself...email me or IM me if you need help, there are lots of gotchyas...make sure to get all of the sensors and hoses disconnected before you pull it all the way out, there are several behind the engine that you cant see until you get it out a couple of inches.
