If they made it in a 5-door and brought it stateside, I'd seriously consider getting an Ibis one

Its the economics
The S3 would require its own crash certification, as the engine, drivetrain and gas tank are different than the A3s. Audi does not expect to produce or sell a lot of these cars and they are going to be expensive even as domestic cars in europe. Importing (and crash certifying)it to the US would make them even more expensive per unit.
