Default This is a really stupid question and I know I should already know the answer but...

When you really goose the power...I mean really get on the accelerator...what causes the black soot out of the exhaust...I noticed it was really bad on a GSX...heck I even heard it hit my windshield...it was a solid substance...of some form...I am thinking carbon...but what is the real answer

TIA
ghag_S4...mods?...ha ha what do you think?

carbon build up, the increased RPMs (and heat I assume) help to free it up and out the back...

Default Gotcha..but when you run it hard regularly....(more)

would you still see the carbon escaping?...for instance that GSX looked like...and he was pushing it pretty hard normally...is it normal to have such a high amount of carbon?...as you can tell I am still at work and trying to think of anything other than work

TIA again

Default it'll still build up on the exhaust even if you regularly get on the RPMs...

i know when I was helping Taner swap out his Rear Diff fluid, i noticed he had a ton of carbon build up on all the connection points on his VMII exhaust.

And I know he frequently pushes his car hard, so I think it's not uncommon to have carbon build up all the time.

How is a GSX goosing it in front of you, perhaps a reverse kill story you'd like to share?

Default Alright fine....

Once upon a time...then she got up...err...got my stories mixed...

Ok...I'm moving over from the left lane to the middle lane...doing my usual slice and dicing thru traffic...no one likes to drive out of the left lane...and this slightly modded GSX was in the middle...I think I woke him cause I saw his face in the rearview and he goosed it...needless to say...I too goosed it and passed him while goosing...he then proceeded to sputter over to the right lane and slow down...took me a whole blink of an eye for him to leave my view...

And SHE said thank you....the end

ghag_S4...mods?...it is an S4 after all...what do you think?
