Removing Shift Plate.....Yes I searched!
Trying to install new shift boot. Does only the chrome ring pop out with the boot or does the entire wood-grain area around the shifter come out?

The entire piece pulls up. Start along the rear edge and pull up.

Picture stolen from toy guy's website.
IMO still the best SS out there.

Best way = grab the bottom of the plate *through* the leather and pull up.
The leather around the shifter shaft has a lot of slack in it. If you put your fingers between the shifter and the rear edge of the 'bucket', you can put upward force on the underside of the shifter surround and just pull it out. Cake. I don't know why nobody else does that.
