Default replaced 2 busted Bailey DVs - now let's guess what chip this is..

from a previous post: problem turned out to be 2 broken Bailey DVs (good job VonK on the indirect guesswork). so i replaced those with 710Ns. replaced the stock ECU with the mystery Mbox and went out logging again.

logged block 002, 003 & 115.

the result:

in 3rd & 4th gear the spec boost doesn't go above 13 PSI. in 6th gear it shot up to 16 PSI.

injector duty cycle doesnt go above 80%

A/F ratio at full throttle seems to stay between 12.5 & 13.

a few notes about my calculations:

to derive boost in PSI : <original mbar> - <spec mbar @ idle> * 0.0145037738

to derive FI duty cycle : <FI time in ms> * <RPM> / 1200

A/F ratio: (5115 * MAF) / (RPM * FI time) or 4.2625 * MAF / <FI duty cycle>
(i got 5115 magic constant from STFA)

notes about the graph:

Load & AFR have been multipled by 10 to better scale on the graph. for example Load of 147.4% is now 1474. an A/F ratio of 14.7 is now 147.

i broke each run into a different tab. the gear i did the run in is shown in the paranthesis. for example 323-380 (4) means data points 323-380 (4th gear). 49-100 (3+4) means data points 49 thru 100, 3rd gear shifting into 4th; logging both.

graphs:

i saved the excel files as html. you may need excel to view them inside the browser. if you have trouble, let me know and i'll do a basic screen capture.

block 002 , block 003 , block 115

i can already rule out Giac because FI_dutycycle is not over 100%.

Default File > Save as Web Page ... (then host the htm file and the directory )

now, let's not go off topic here.

Default i have some left over chocolate moose if you'd like

oh yes, it's not APR; i called them and they told me how to perform a test thru the cruise control set button. so scratch that.

TAP stage1 advertised boost level of 12.5 seems to relate.

i was guessing neuspeed myself, but can't find much info.

Default Piggie has a Neuspeed ECU at his house that I want to try.....

When I get around to it, I'll try to log some stuff. It's too bad that there isn't more info about Neuspeed software on AW :/

Default neat. i'll be looking fwd to that.

hmm.. i just noticed neu's site says boost increased to 17.5 psi; that would rule that out.

i dont mind this chip though. it seems conservative with boost; but at least FI duty cycles are not maxed, and AFR seems dandy (if i calculated correctly - i should do block 032 as well).

Q: that initial boost spike is normal and the only way to rid of it is to put a MBC in parallel with the N75, correct?

Default Initial spike is normal yes. You can get rid of it with MBC in parallel *OR* by tweaking SEL scaling

SEL scaling can be turned down with Lemmiwinks. The default setting is 100% and it can only be turned down. As you turn it down, the requested boost curve goes down. Therefore, tweaking SEL scaling will adjust the entire boost curve unlike MBC in parallel, which will only adjust the initial spike.
