I had the Intrax springs with matching Koni shocks installed on March 20, 2001. I wanted to experience them for a few days before reporting.
Thank you to Eric of Supreme Power parts [http://www.supremepowerparts.com/] for recommending them, and for installing them. Thanks also to Scott Hartman, founder of
Intrax, for letting Eric use the Intrax facility for the install, for assuring me that I'd like
the setup, and for entertaining me with racing stories and suspension education during
the install.
My goal was reduced body roll, float, and dive, without a harsh ride. I picked this setup
based on the recommendations of other users (and Eric and Scott), and based on price. The setup cost $750, plus $150 for installation. I also got an alignment at my local tire shop for $49. This compares to estimates of approximately $2,000 for MTM or Abt setups (installed). I had no reason to disbelieve that the Intrax setup would be better, at half the cost. I was not able to drive an S4 with Abt or MTM, despite repeated efforts and inquiries with those who sell them, so I can only compare the Intrax setup with stock.
The difference is amazing. This is now a sports car, instead of a soft family sedan with
more power than the suspension could handle (IMHO). The corners are much, much flatter at
speed. I was terrified by the car floating all over the place before, but now it feels
secure and solid.
There is no free lunch. Suspension is all about choices, compromises. You do feel the
road a bit more, but it is not unpleasant. My wife agrees that the ride is not harsh. She
said it feels "tight, and solid, but not in any bad way." I was relieved to hear this.
However, if you only drive on the freeway and never corner, the stock suspension will
be smoother. Even there, though, I didn't like the floaty softness of the stock setup,
and I'm happier with this.
The resulting ride height is 25.25 inches at each corner. Perfect!

http://www.supremepowerparts.com</a
