Default reseting ecu

I have recently reset my ECU because of a new installed MAF, the gas mileage was really bad bad before resetting the ECU. After it was reset, gas mileage is going back to usual. This week, the bad gas mileage problem surface again, and I wonder if it is normal you have to reset the ECU once in a while? Thanks

I don't know what resetting an ecu means. Perhaps a throttle body calibration?
