Default Easy, 5k. 6k is starting to get into the purple light spectrum, and like krypt0 said, more

"usable light". STFA, Wrinkledpants had a great response to a post about what temp HID to get a few days ago.

Big 2nd. I have the same kit.. No problems with it whatsoever, plus they warranty for life I think.

Depends on the rated wattage of both the bulb and ballast. For example, if you put a 6k ballast on your stock 35w bulbs, the color would be around the same as 5k because some of the color gets washed out. Retro solutions bulbs and ballasts are supposedly 55w, so their bulb rating for the color should be accurate. People speculate that the DDM slim ballast kit, for example, uses 35w because on their site they say to buy one temp range higher than you normally would. I bought the 6k DDM in hopes of around 5k color, but I'll post pics when I confirm it one way or the other.
