Default RS4 clutch = garbage

Sigh. Another one bites the dust. I don't know why I'm such a glutton for punishment and fall into the illusion I'll get one that doesn't suck. I'm like the kid that keeps sticking his hand in boiling water, knowing what's going to happen. I'm done. These things are complete garbage.

The twin plate is definitely going to be a requirement going forward. It's not like my car makes tons of power, or I launch it hard. That should be evident by the fact the pressure plate and flywheel aren't glazed up.

This time I completely vaporized the pressure plate torque straps. And in the process wasted my 1/2 synchro hub as the clutch would never fully release (you could rev it with the clutch disengaged in first gear and the car would creep forward).

Anyways, here are the carnage pics:

as it came out:

here is the previous RS4 pressure plate which slipped like crazy... you can see the straps that retain the pressure plate:

Look ma, no straps!!!

um, yeah... it was definitely not releasing...

however, I have never launched it... Multiple 1-2 shifts but never dumped the clutch

Have you thought about trying to install it correctly instead of continually breaking them?

Default I have installed hundreds of clutches - that would be a neat trick

if I was only installing my own incorrectly.

Also curius how you think an installation error leads to 6 pins in single shear, well, shearing.
