S4 availability/pricing
Thinking about trading a 99 A4 1.8tqms for an 01 S4 Avant.
My dealer tells me that S4 Avants are not moving well in general and that dealers' orders are down due to low expected volume on this model - leading to constrained availability.
I've seen a number of posts that put new S4s in the sub 40k range - anyone done better than this?
Other thoughts?
Anyone succesfully trade back to the dealer to upgrade without taking a bath? Negotiation tips?
Any and all insights appreciated.

depends where you are
In California Avants are tight...some places are (trying) to charge above sticker. There seem to be more 6's than Tips though.
For trade, go to Nada or Edmunds and get the price. Then figure that they will offer you about 2K less than the trade in figure. Always negotiate the trade in price *separate* from the new vehicle price. You will always be better off selling your used car outright though.
