Default S4 intake...

Anyone ever thought about somehow increasing the size of the snorkel on the S4? Or is it not very restrictive?

My gut tells me the car is wanting more air, faster, but that the snorkel is too restrictive. I haven't done any type of measurements or calcualtions, so I could be just on crack

How restrictive is the airbox, itself?

Thoughts? Ideas?

Default The snorkel is fine... if anything, you want to keep it that way to reduce turbulence.

just my opinion.

AWE has a cold air intake that uses the current S4 airbox. That would be a more beneficial route instead of trying to increasing the snorkel intake.<p><a href="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/details.asp?car=5726"><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/larryvsig4.jpg" border="0"></a>

Default The snorkel thingie was a huge "mod" in the VW-VR6 land

I did it myself and I did not notice any performance gains, but did get more of an intake noise.

I also had to periodically check the airbox to make sure that no squirrels got inside, as I removed a mesh screen too.

I don't know whether the S4 has a mesh screen as well to keep the debris out.

I wouldn't do it.<p><a href="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/details.asp?car=3559"><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/beepbeep.gif" border="0"></a>
