Default S4, M3 or Boxster S??

Have APR modified A4 1.8t QMS. Will be turning the car in on lease in a few months. Will be taking spare ECU and chip with me, as well as receiver hitch. mbarrett@unum.com

Considering 99 M3 to modify (290hp/300lb/ft). Great car, classic and great for the track.

Also considering 00 Boxster S to modify to similar specs as the M3. Hey, it is a Porsche and better than the base model which I can hang with in my A4.

But looking at the APR Website, I guess I would consider a S4 to modify. 320hp and 380lb/ft. Seems awesome. I have never ridden in a chipped S4. Anyone in the Tampa FL area willing to offer a short ride? Much appreciated!

Same car I have had for 4 years, only faster. Same look and feel generally. And though, I love my A4, change is good. But it is hard to walk away from those hp and torque figures for the $$.

Is a chipped S4 the way to go?
Anyone chipped w/ exaust and intake. I was guessing 340hp and 400lb/ft with those extra mods. Any issues??? Any proven performance #s?

Any input would be appreciated. Do not need BMW Porsche bashing. Just some good insight on a modified S4 over these cars.

Thanks

I just wonder if I will get bored. Essensially I have been driving the same car for the past four years. Dif. bumpers and more power. But everything is the same. Which is good. I guess modified though the performance must be blistering. Are you modified???

Default R u buying new, if so save a few more thou and buy an F355

I saw a cherry one the other day with about 8k on it for about 70K it was a 96 or 97. U could buy it with good credit for about 8-900 a month, or shop around for an F348 for about 15k cheaper. U live in FLA for christs sake, u need the extra bling factor down there to keep up with the scene.

Default I went from A4 to S4

VERY glad I made my choice, and for a number of reasons, the S4 is a different place inside than an A4. If you're going to be tracking, I'd go with M3 or Boxster S (both are lighter and more up for track duty with less going wrong), but for the street, I'd go for an S and mod it to your liking. All three are great cars, but serve different purposes.

Default Of those choices, there is no question what to buy...

Porsche Boxster S.
Although I love my S4. I consider trading it for Boxster often. The S4 is much more practical however and that is the decided factor for me.

Default I would get either the BMW or the Porsche...

don't forget, while the S4 might put up impressive numbers, it's also very heavy, and won't handle as well as the other two. And with just a chip and exhaust, you're still sitting on a ticket time bomb, and when those turbos go, you're looking at a significant expense, whether you choose to go stock or aftermarket.

Default Track car M3, daily driver S4

All depends on what you want. I love E36 M3's and they're demons on the track, but for everyday comfort and a car that will do alright on the track, you can't go wrong with the S4.

Another side is reliability. You're buying used and out of warranty more than likely. M3's are almost bullet proof, S4's under abuse...well aren't.
