Default S4 vs. Ford Lightning

A guy in a Lightning wanted to play this morning on my way to work. The truck is impressive but no match for even a stock S4. I steadily pulled him into triple digits.

Default I got smoked by one in my Stock Jetta GLX once.

It was so embarressing, I had two friends in the car, I remember I said, no truck could beat me. My buddy said "just watch", sure enough I got beat bad. I doubt it would ever happen in the s4 though. Speed difference is too much.

On a side note, same friend use to have a Toyota Tacoma sport something another and it was pretty quick. He was running 7.0sec 60s which is pretty good, could probably keep with most stock VW's.

Default I have to second djillusion's statement.

Those trucks can run. Unless you are abnormally fast, they are a good run with a stock S4. But in eveything, performance varies across the board.

Just don't sleep on them. I would hate to see a silver go down from underestimating a opponent.

Default Was it a new one or old one?

Trick is to be in boost early. If he gets the jump, you'll have to be into triple digits before the drag starts to really hurt him.

Default Sorry...brand new one. It was about 55f degrees outside (m)

and it was from about 55mph on up. It was impressive for sure. He was even keeping up (sort of!) going in and out of traffic.

Default I saw a F150 lightning do a 13.6 at Pomona...

and the link below confirms this. However, I was reading an article the other day and it had the Lightning doing 14.2...I wonder if there are BIG differences between the model years...

Of course, there's always the driver too ;-)

http://popularmechanics.com/popmech/auto3/9907AUCTBM.html</a

Default I seen those at the drag strip. They're quick but not as quick as the S4

I think they do mid 14s on the 1/4 mile but they have tons of wheel spin. tons of torque but not enough grip.
