Default S4 vs. Pontiac Firebird

my friend has a pontiac firbird with about 340 hp at the fly he says, running the 1/4 mile at low 13's. It's an automatic as well, quite fast never the less. I have an S4 with short shifter and MTM chip. how do you think i'd do against him in the 0-60 and 1/4 mile? obviously, it has to do with my driving skills but suppose i'm a moderately good racer. how would my 01 s4 do compared to his firebird?

Default LS1 Firebirds came with 350hp and are FAST

It depends on where you race him. On the track or street?

My MTM Stage III got crushed by a WS6 with a 75 shot and bolt-ons.

I beat 2002 Stock Camaro's all the time.

Basically don't **** up and you might win.

oh don't know about 1/4 mile, it was from 85 up to 120+, the gap gets bigger and bigger.

Default I just sold my 00 camaro LS1 and bought an 01 S4 and...

I will tell you my LS1 was fast!!! I had all stock internals, and just about every bolt on available. It dyno'd at 343.2rwhp & 350.3rwtq. My best time at the track was 13.1 @ 109.3 with a 2.2+ 60ft time on 18" street tires. Needless to say I did not hook!!! From a roll slightly modded LS1's are run well, but they are still an american car with the build quality to match. My S4 is in a different league in terms of quality, and can make lots of power with minor mods as well. You will probably hold your own, but don't be suprised if your buddy pulls on you. It shold be interesting. Good luck with your S4!!!

Default if you get a good launch with him on street tires ...

you'll win and if he has LS1 motor it will be a great race, up to 1/4 mile (don't race him on the fwy)
4 weeks ago I raced a 2000 WS6, I gave hime 3 cars and killed him by 5 cars.( 1/4 mile )

Default I have a Firehawk....

that I would have to say is about as fast as my S4. The S4 (chipped) with tip is about the same as the Firehawk (LT1 variety) with a 6 speed. On the highway, I would say that the S4 have the advantage. My Firehawk is rated at 315 HP, as the S4 is also. Torque figures are similar too. I would have to assume that you'd win this race although one never knows.

Default Doubtful... I had a 98 LS1

and those were the slower ones. 2000's and up while they run a bit leaner do run faster. There's a 2001 stock WS6 that ran a 12.66 @ 111mph bone stock, although with the best driver in our club. On my car with some bolt ons, torque converter and worn 17" street tires... 12.88 @ 107mph, 1.88 60'.

I'm going to bet that your S4 with an MTM chip will run a 13.6 or so. My automatic bone stock LS1 ran a 13.4 on my first run ever at the 1/4. The autos are really easy to drive and launching is pretty easy.

Default I sold my 98 CAMARO SS to get my 01 S4.

When my car was stock I raced my friends 02 Z-28 and destroyed him up to approx 105 when I let up a bit. He was coming up pretty hard but I'm sure the 1/4 would have been over...GOD I love Quattro...
