A friend just pointed out that I wanted to get the GIAC X chip with the remote-selectable programs and that if I was going to do that, then I'd void the Audi warranty on the car I'm looking at for $28K w/ 31K miles.
So, what do you guys think- get the cheaper ($24K), well maintained 2001 S4 out of warranty (51K mi) that I could have fun with by putting after market stuff on it or do the safe (but less fun) thing and get the more expensive 2001 S4 with 31K miles and extended warranty??

Well, I know it doesn't have turbos, but my A6 has been really reliable...
So that makes me want to get the cheaper one and have some money to get it chipped.

Would it be cost effective if I added this IF the stock turbos failed?
I mean, if the stock ones failed on the cheaper, out of warranty car, then could I just replace them with this kit, or would I need a bunch of other Audi parts that would add to the AWE RSK04 kit price?
****, if this is try, it may be the way to go!
It definitely make blowing the turbos less of an unhappy day!

In my experience, most aftermarket warranties are much more strict about modded cars.
If you're going to do anything at all to it, I wouldn't worry about the warranty... because you'll pay $4k more and likely get nothing out of it.
