Salvage title 2000 S4 with 17k on the ticker. I saw the car while it was in.........
I saw the car while it was in the bodyshop getting fixed. Most of the damage was side impact with it carrying to the rear quarter. The middle pillar between the front and rear was replaced, and all sheet metal that was frigged beyond repair. Other than that the paint job could of been wet sanded a little more and unless your like me and can see beyond the clear coat into the paint and notice those subtle scratches in the filler, looks perf. Maybe I should of left perf out, anyway. Measured the distance from each wheel center to center, right on the money.
Question is........is it worth 26 grand? With those miles its 4-6 thousand away fromo a clean title so I am not that hesitant. Only issue is the warranty is of course voided so an aftermarket one will be like a grand for just 3 years with 36k.....
Any thoughts or experiences would be great. TIA

1st- that is way to much (m)
think of it this way, the car is 26K and 2K for an aftermarket warranty (that is approx. how much it costs because you have to add on to the base price for AWD and Biturbo) so u are already at 28k... for 28-31K you can find a nice, clean used 2000 S4... even if it costs 2k more initially if you ever try to sell the car with a salvage title it will be worth next to nothing.
as you can see it doesnt make sense..
I would definately stay away from that car

Stay away from salvage.
I agree with LarryV. salvage cars have very poor resale vakue and you have no recourse since they are sold as is. Modern cars are made with unibody construction and if they take any major hit, they are difficult to repair and restore to like new condition. I was considering buying a salvage Allroad for $17K for my wife, instead I'll wait 2-3 years and buy an Audi Assured vehicle.
