Self Leveling Xenon Headlights

Self Leveling Xenon Headlights
I understand that the xenons self level throughout the driving process. After waiting tonight on an incline, then moving into traffic on the I80, I noticed that they were pointed straight down on the ground. Even though I couldn't see SH^T, I drove for a couple of miles and they didn't change. So I pulled over, turned the car off then on and they releveled to their standard position. My question is, (1)do the lights continually level while you're driving, (2)or is this only done when you are stopped for a couple of minutes or (3) when you turn the car off?
My owners manual is still on order so I cannot use it as a reference.
Thanks!

Re: Self Leveling Xenon Headlights
they continuously adjust to the suspension load... about 3 to 5 seconds after the load has changed. every time you start the car the motor control module resets. I've never heard of your problem before, you may need to have that control module replaced if it happens again.

When they are working they level in real time, but there is quite a delay.
If your lights were pointed down they were in some sort of failure. I had this on my '00 (one light) and it was fixed (loose connection in light housing).
