Service guy overfilled my oil!
There was a revised tech bulletin sent out a few months ago. How many quarts does the 2.7t engine need again?
Anyways, I just got my car back from it's 10k mile service and they overfilled it. I brought 7 quarts of 0w-30 and the tech used 6 and a 1/2. He bagged the remaining 1/2 quart and placed it in my trunk. The service advisor then asked if he could take it out for a spin while waiting for the tech to write up the paperwork. When he got back, he checked the oil level again and found it to be a bit low, so the tech dumped all of the remaining oil in. Tech guy goes, "sometimes it takes 6 and half, sometimes 6 and three-quarters, sometimes 7 quarts." Erm... ok.
So I drive the 90 something miles back to work at 85+ mph thinking that I had a sweet service the whole trip back. I get back to the office and surf Audiworld for a couple hours and go back out to check the oil levels. The oil level is COMPLETELY OFF THE DIPSTICK MARKER! What the %#$@! hell? Should I be concerned? What's the worse thing that could happen? The dealership is 90 miles away so they can't help me out. I'm concerned about what damage has been already done

Yep, one more..
You'd think the 'Audi Authorized and Knowledgeable Service People' would know BY NOW that when you top the oil off you only use half a Q. at most and then check again.
In the S4 the dipstick seems to be very sensitive, last night as a matter of fact mine was 3 mm. (0.11811 Inches) below the full mark, adding 250 ml. (8.45351 Ounces / 0.528344 Pints) put it exactly to the full mark.
I would guess there is 3/4L - 1L. between the upper and lower settings in the dipstick.

7 qts won't hurt.
2.7L (APB)
6.5L (6.9 qt)
ENGINE OIL: Approximate quantities! Use API SERVICE SJ for gasoline engines. Do not overfill! Overfilling engine oil can cause misfire DTC's to be stored
in Engine Control Module (ECM) -J220-. To prevent overfilling, add approx. 0.5L less than capacity, start engine and let run until engine operating temperature
is approx. 60
C (140
F), turn OFF ignition, wait approx. 3 minutes, check dipstick, then fill to MAX. See Repair Manual for details.

Just an FYI - mine read off the dipstick marker when dealer had put in 9 qts (i drained and checked)
I wouldn't think only 7 qts would make it read that high. Oh by the way, I had brought only 6 quarts of Mobil-1 to the dealer (I wanted to top it off myself), so don't trust that because you only brought 7 that they put in 7...

Correct! Last time they 'forgot' to put the oil I brough
Then when I told them about it, they took it back.
I would have to wonder if they REALLY drained and changed it or simply took the bottles from the car (brought 7, they 'used' 6).
Next time I will print a gigantic banner in fluorescent paper and leave it glued to the windshield and MAYBE they will get it right the first time, next time .
