Default Shifter Problems... Short Shifter to Blame?

About 4 months ago, I installed a B&M Short Shifter in my 2001 s4. The other day, I was driving in my car and I noticed that for some reason, I had a lot of play (left and right) in my shifter while it was in gear. In 1-4, the shifter seems very loose, even though it is in gear. The gears are fully engaged and the car is running fine. I also checked all of the bolts from the short shifter installation, and all are fine (I used LocTite on them). It looks like the motion is a result of the white plastic piece at the base of the shift assembly (i can try and find a pic/ take one if necessary) Any suggestions/fixes that you guys know of?

Thanks
