SHOULD I BUY THIS S4
saw a 94 S4. seems cool, but want your opinions.
real clean
5 speed
88,000 miles
loaded
$16,500
just curious.
Right now, I own a 1992 Ford Taurus SHO (5-speed) with mild mods. It's been fun, but both of us are getting older and my tastes are thus getting more expensive (not sure if that's a smart thing)
I know the S4 is in a different league but it's still weird that a 7 year old car with 88,000 miles is worth that much being a similar SHO is worth $5,500 (on a good day).
but i'm intrigued nonetheless. seems cool successor to SHO.
bottom line is will i regret it? are these cars high maintenance (ie nightmares) as far as reliability. I paid $5200 for my car 2 years ago, so when something craps out on me, who cares. but after blowing 17 grand i'd get more than pissed if something major happens.
the one thing these two cars have in common is that people beat on them pretty hard. i just do lots of highway driving and depend greatly on the car everyday.
thanks for any opinions
see ya,
Robby

Check these sites:
www.urs4.com and www.s-cars.org. Check out the faq on the sites. There are some known issues with these cars, but if well taken care of they can be damn fast and fun. I was considering buying a '94 that had Stage 2 mods from Hoppen...290hp screamer.

Re: SHOULD I BUY THIS S4
thanks for the info. yeah, my girlfriend owns an 97 A4 2.8 Quattro and keeps raggin' on my SHO. So, I'm like fine, if look into goin' kraut (just kidding).
anyway, her's is really fun to drive. just used to a bigger car and a stick. and i wish it was faster (she has an auto as well).
i figure the old school S4 addresses all those issues.
thanks again,
Robby
