I tried that...
But it's so noisy under there that all you can hear is loud mechanical thrashing noises. Doesn't really sound like an engine, and I couldn't hear the turbos or anything.
It was a crap microphone though. Maybe you'll get a better recording.

Just check the mic after the first run/use!
As I know it will at least deform from the heat there.
Mine almost lost it's clip but held fine.
I mounted mine on a wire lowering it down near the right turbo.
I took the mic/wiring off the car when it went for service, you never know if they will blame a little mic for something else.
It was not difficult to 'uninstall' as the 'wiring' was simply an audio extension passed through the body panel junction below the A pillar and into the cabin with the connecting jack resting on the door pocket, 2 minute, no tools needed uninstall .
I need to record some more, sort of a history of noise and how the turbo sound has changed, once in a while it goes almost quiet after being loud non stop, just strange...
