Slow S4
I have about 2k miles on my S4 tiptronic. There hasn't been any opportunity to take it to a drag strip to get a 1/4 mile speed, but the car feels fast Today I did some 0-60 runs with a stopwatch at sea level in 66 degrees.
The best I got was about 6.8 seconds! Now this is based on holding the brake with the left foot and the revs as high as they can go with the brake on (which is only about 2300, but the turbo kicks in) then as I release the brake and floor it, start the watch and stop as it touches 60. I know there is alot of room for error, but if it was even remotely near the 5.5 manual time (I figured if the book times were .4 off for the manual, maybe they were that far off for the tip), I'd be seeing low 6's or high 5's even with the error. I'm amazed that I couldn't even get to the factory claimed 6.5 seconds, OR that 6.5 is actually accurate with the correct timing equipment. I did about 3 different roads and the last one was about as flat as you could ever find, so I wasn't going up hill.
I don't think there's anything wrong with the car or the throttle body boot, it is just slow with the Tip...sigh. I left it in drive for a couple of runs, and manually shifted for a couple (.1 faster). I'm a trained racing driver, so I know a couple of things about getting a car to go fast...I'm pretty disappointed. I never did drive the 6-speed, it just wasn't an option with all the freeway driving I do. I'll be alot more careful around those Mustangs and Camaros...sheesh.

Jeez, and some people laugh at the G-Tech? Your stop watch method is very inaccurate and keeps your
eyes off the road. Your times are probably a bit faster than what you "clicked"

Re: Slow S4
Don't forget that the speedo lags actual speed when accelletating....you were probably going 62 or 63 when you hit your watch...indicated...and my speedo reads a mile + slow...have you calibrated yours?

Same here...
I have done the same thing, and have similar times. I usually get around 7 seconds for 0 - 100 kmh (which is 62 mph) when letting the Tip shift. At first I thought something was wrong with my watch.
When I had it in for a service at the dealer last week I mentioned that the car seemed slow, and they checked it out. They didn't find any problems.
Pretty disappointing actually.

Run it at the track to get some solid #...I did...
I dont know how do you difine slow...I ran my S4 tip at Englightown. I did a 13.9 with chip and exhaust. Just where I expected. hopefully I'll get down to 13.8 ,.7 with an upgraded chip and 1/4 tank of gas. I think its pretty good for an automatic.

Yes, I realize I may be off by 2 or 3 tenths, but this would still make it barely 6.5 seconds. I have no way of calibrating, but will take it to the track some time. Pomona drag strip only has sanctioned events nowdays, I’d hate to take this thing out there and get high 14s or low 15s...it'd disgrace us all. The track where you could just show up and run is long closed. I'd be interested if any non-chipped S4s ran drags. 13.9 is good for auto S4, what chip?

Where do you live? I live in Rancho Cucamonga. I usualy try to make it to those Pomona races. I've never participated though, but who knows know that I've got my little nogaro nightmare =). Maybe we'll run into each other on the 10 freeway or something? Email me If you wanna meet or something. See you around.

Re: Hey. you live near Pomona?.........
I live in San Pedro, e-mailed Hoppen and they think I can get 14.2 with their ecu and tip chip. I have a real (NASA) race in May (coincides with the street drags) but might be able to do the one in July, here’s a link to the schedule:
