Default Snow tire sizes...

anyone out in AudiWorld land use a 215/55 R17 tire on the stock wheel?
I know 215/50 is the right size but can't seem to find that tire right now. I waited to long into the fall before I bought my snow tires!
Thanks.

I think most people stick with the 225/45/17 size when running stock wheels.

Yeah and some run 205/55R16 on those rare 16s that clear our brakes.

Yea, this is the best setup IMO. But I can't do that with my calipers.
I am also thinking of getting some all season tires instead of "snow" tires.
I live in the Detroit area and we get snow maybe 3-5 times per year. The roads are usually clear a few hours later.

Default You should get "winter" tires, then. All seasons (no seasons) won't be as good, and I know it'll be

cold up there. You want a rubber compound and tread design that works well when cold and that is designed for primarily dry pavement, yet works well in the snow and ice. Dunlop M2s or M3s are a popular choice for that type of road condition.

Thanks. I look at the Dunlops.
I wanted some Graspic DS-2 in a 215/50 17 size but they are hard to come by at the moment. Waited to long I guess.
