So apparently the source of my huge rattle is my rear window (more)
The last few weeks I've been having a huge overly annoying rattle coming from the rear of the car. At first I thought it was all the crap in my trunk. But yesterday while washing the car I was scrubbing the inside of my rear window clean .. when I discovered I could actually lift up a large majority of the lower right hand side of the window. Its NOT ATTACHED TO THE CAR. the rattle I've been hearing is the rear window flapping around when I hit bumps.
Has anyone ever heard of anything like this? Is this something the dealer is going to cover under my extended warranty?

my right rear window regulator ($$$) went out, I could move the window by hand...
...my left rear has the tell tale sign of a dieing regulator, it starts with a "tick tick tick" sound as it goes up and down.
Then one day it goes down, but not back up.

Could be the window regulator or other part, the name of which escapes me at the moment. Should be
covered under warranty. IIRC, this is a relatively common thing on VAG cars, VW had it happening a lot until they redesigned some plastic part in the mechanism that secures the glass to the frame that moves the window up and down. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

I replaced mine....stupid plastic disc on the regulator broke
part was like 180 at the dealer, there are four rivets that you have to drill out. all in all, pretty simple and the window rolls up fine now

Not since I've owned the car. I checked it with my friends S4 and the brands match
it has an audi logo and says "Guardian" under it. so its a factory part. I would assume if it had been replaced at one time, Audi must of done it. I highly doubt an aftermarket company would order a factory part.

The tick tick sound is due to a crack in one of the plastic wheels supporting the metal cable
No way to fix it. Have to replace the whole thing. Just had both of mine replaced
