So I put six and half quarts of oil in...(more)
And the mark on the stick is barely past the first notch. As this is the first oil change that ive done, is this normal or should I be adding more...but was hesitant in fear of flooding with too much oil...

Is that serious or a joke? It's only 3oz & less than 1.5% off of spec, but I do ask for a reaso
The last time I got my oil changed was also the first time that I supplied my own oil & filter - my dealer couldn't fit me in on the day that I needed it done, so I just went somewhere else to pay for the labor as well - when they were done, I asked where the rest of the last quart was, and they said it took a full 7 (I hadn't told them that it should be 6.9) - the guy was really adamant that 0.1 is hardly anything, and even seemed annoyed that I asked about it. So I checked the dipstick, and it was definitely a bit above full, but not really overflowing (actually, it was in the same place where it always was coming back from the dealer), and then I didn't really think about it any more. Now my question is, how bad would that have been? I may have some issues with my dealer about this now too, but I've written enough for now...

I try to keep my car about 1/8 - 1/4 of an inch below the top of the hash marks on the dipstick.
People have reported that you will get excessive blow by if you really fill the oil pan. I'd rather keep my intake as clean as possible.
