So I'm reading the discussion about the split downpipe last night and Fletcher
had made a statement about the Labree design that incorporates a splitter at the flange interface. Does anyone care when an opinion is given on a forum based assumption? Normally an opinion is just an opinion till it slanders a product. That alone makes it wrong. I went back a few days to find out more about what was said and statements were made by Fletcher that had no technical grounds that would merrit design critisizm. Statments like this compels me to ask, are your remarks based on fact or opinion?.....
"I will not use the product because it's built wrong. Build it correctly...I know of two aircraft exhaust that use a split in the downpipe and they use welds, not a mild steel bolt."
I don't believe making a statement such as "it's built wrong" is correct when you've done no testing of the very feature you are critisizing....that being the splitter bolts. When you make this kind of statment, isn't it considered slanderous when you're not basing your opinion on fact and directing it towards a company's product? Isn't that in fact wrong.
I will ask again the same question I asked last night so as to give you a chance to respond.
Again, what loads will the bolts see that will cause failure?

The bolts that hold the turbo housing to the manifold glow red and they havn't been recalled
due to heat. Bolts come heat treated. Thermal cycling isn't going to cause bolt failiar if it isn't seeing axial loads. Give a break here guys.

Fletcher doesn't like the DPs cause it dosen't have an AMS badge !
I was the 1st person to use the split DPs ! I've been running my car very hard for the past 6 months and no problems !!!! I've tested these DPs !!!! on the track and on the streets !

Your kidding right? How much force and in what direction are those two bolts seeing?....that's all
I'm asking here. If you can answer me that, I'll tell you how long before they fail.
