Default SO Mike2kS4 and some other people have suggested I check for rubbing or some other cause of high KV

If that were the case, I should be able to throw some 100 octane in, and the KV should remain high, right? Seems to me that might be a good way to figure things out...

Default From logs that I've seen, I don't think your KVs were all that high.

I'd try to keep the correction factor in the single digits though.

Default On those logs I just posted though, the boost was really low

I was under the impression anything over 22 or so was high? I'm going to go back out and turn the SEL back to 100 and control the top end with the MBC, and see if the KV's increase at all with more boost...

But in any case, rubbing would happen regardless of the octane, so I'll see if that's an issue to at least eliminate a variable.

I think the car is probably on par with most 91 cars - nyet sees the same results I do, so I guess we can just blame the gas .

Default I don't agree that above 22 is a problem.

I've seen cylinders 2 and 5 show as high as 30 or 40 in logs from some cars (ECU Explorer logs, which capture much more than VAG-COM does), while still seeing reasonable (9 or less) correction factors and timing.

I've been requesting more logs of KV and CF to see if I can determine how they are affected by things such as drivetrain stiffeners and such, but I haven't gotten too much data from people.

Default I think DAP feels the same way I do now....

KVs are not as important as we once thought. Watch Timing Retard/CF and just keep those in single digits.

I used to think KV values affected CF, but lately I'm thinking it is the opposite.

So should I just be looking at CF's when tuning then?
