Default So now I need tires, searched archives.

Since I just ordered some Fikse's eventhough I have no money, I need some tires. I've decided to go 225/40/18's as it has the closest rolling diameter to stock. That pretty much leaves me with a choice of S02 (not PPs) and the Yoko AVS Sports.

I had P7000SS last year and the buzzing really annoyed me. Now, I'm afraid that one or both of these tires will annoy me too. I'm willing to sacrifice some traction so that I have a quietter ride. Anyone with experience between these two?

Thanks
Andrew

Had the SO-2s (not PP) in 225/45 x 17 on '96 A4Q. VERY quiet, quick sharp steering, AWSOME in the wet, fantastic braking behavior. Had for 2.5+ years w/very good tread left when car sold.

Default Doh, you shoulda told me you were getting Fikses

Matt Curry's autoshop is in the area, and he sells more Fikses than anyone else in the US, so there is a HEAVY discount. HEAVY. Plus he's only like 10 minutes away. I don't think he'll do out of the area type orders, but since we're here... Almost everyone at that shop has an IT racer, or some crazy tricked out ride. Good guys. I'll probably have them install my fun parts when I get around to them.

Andrew, check out your email for the prices he gives for 17"s.

Default Curry's Auto Shop

Curry's Auto is what you should see it as. He's got a website too. In order to get the good pricing, you'll have to talk to Curry himself, and you need to be a member of a car club. Any car club. Just join one real quick. QUSA is only like $35 or something like that. Believe me, you'll save it right back and then some if you buy Fikses from him.

Oh, and he's got the crazy nice Hunter 9700 (I think that's the model) wheel balancer. These things are really nice. They also have the capability of aligning A4's (Hunter alignment rack, plus the freaky deaky tool you need for A4's).
