So is this part a part of my front brake caliper assembly?

stock brakes or big brake?

either way, neither setup comes with that metal bracket in the pic (at least for me)

Stock...

...if that's not part of the brake system I wonder what it's been doing in a box with my OEM brake calipers for nearly 3 years.

Yes, it's the stress relief for the brake line.

It's pristine (never used) though...

...do you remember when we put these on and we had to go buy that temporary brake line because the stainless steel ones were too short? I wonder if this could have been part of those?
