Whereas he's paying for it, just take it to whatever the body shop of choice on your regional AW
forum is, have them do an estimate, then collect said amount of $ from the dude and give it to the body shop. Don't mess with used/junkyard parts as someone below said - whereas the other guy is paying, no reason not to do it proper with brand new parts.

they are required to use OE quality parts which on a car as old as 8 years will include refurb and
reman parts... you are not entitled to NEW parts regardless of what you've heard on the radio, you are entitled to parts that are in the same condition prior to your accident or better - this almost always means refurbed parts on cars this old. Hell when my landcruiser was hit in the front, even though it was only a 2004 they still used reman/refurb parts - don't get me wrong that's not necessarily a bad thing - just don't get high and mighty with the insurance adjuster and demand NEW OE parts becuase you are not entitled to them...

Your insurance company will most likely give you a free estimate
Given that, I think your best bet is to take advantage of that. Then, bring the estimate to the other guy and see if he wants to cut you a check for that or if he'd prefer going through insurance.
A bodyshop is probably going to want to paint the whole door to match that strip, so be ready for some butt puckering when you see the estimate.
