I'm shootin' from the hip with this but to me, the problem doesn't seem to be with the K03 turbo nor with the 2.7TT engine per se but specifically with the K03 turbo on the 2.7TT engine IN THE S4. The K03s do OK in the 1.8T engine. The A6 2.7TT turbos seem to be doing OK. The fact that Audi made a change in recommended oil weight (from 5W-40 to 0W-30) raises some interesting thoughts as does their change in recommended oil change interval from 8K down to 5K. If I had to guess, I'd say the heat in the cramped S4 engine compartment could be the culprit along with related lubrications issues.
Also, it'd be interesting to hear more from the Europeans (with the difference in emissions control and cats), Canadians (cooler temperatures), and also the Australians (usually warmer down there but also it's "winter" there now).
Additional input and constructive criticism always welcomed.

Re: Throttle Body Boot or air intake duct for turbo.
Since it seems that many of these fail, where can I order an authorized replacement so if mine gos south I can replace it myself without the dealer ever mentioning this in the same breathe with my warranty?<p>Ken Lakin

Or keep the part in you car, and go to your nearest dealer if you blow it, don't forget to buy the
clamp as well, these are the most important, since they changed the type. Go see the technical bulletin as the first page of this web site to find the replacement part#
