Someone educate me: would the Garretts be a more reliable option than K04's

given that the tuning for those are in their infancy
you do the math.
give it a bit to shake out.
if you want to be the early adopter great, just realize there are always risks involved, and if you are looking for "peace of mind" you should act accordingly.
finally, why would they be more reliable?

IMHO, K04's stop being reliable after constantly trying to push 500 at the crank.
They **may** do it but not for long. This is where the GT series come in.
It is not apples vs. apples comparison, the GT lineup is geared for a higher output and be reliable.
Definition of realiable to me is a long healthy lifespan of 50k miles or more at that power level.

At this point, for reliability your only option is K04's. Garretts MIGHT work out to be...
more reliable in the long run, but personally, I'd give it a year or two to shake out, unless you were prepared for a lot of possible problems. STFA for all the headaches that ensued when people first started putting K04's in their cars.

If you dont need the power, then K04's are the way to go. Make 325 at the wheels and with ...
regular maintenance intervals those turbos should last a fairly long time. All while being the most cost effective.
Its that people always want mad powah and with K04's that just isn't a long-term relationship.
