Spare Tire in B5 Avant - does a full size fit or are the wells build only for doughnuts?

Spare Tire in B5 Avant - does a full size fit or are the wells build only for doughnuts?
Question about the spare tire in the B5 avants. I understand that they all come with doughnuts, but will a full size fit in the well properly? I just realized that mine is a crappy little doughnut and want to get a full-sized. Appreciate any light that can be shed.

i tried trimming the plastic and still need to remove it to get the spare in/out
need to revisit that.
do you have a picture of how much you cut? i removed all of the horizontal section in the center part. did you trim some of the vertical plastic too?
