Speaking of headlights. I have a problem - my headlights keep adjusting downwards even after
realignment. About 2 months ago I had my battery disconnected for a bit and right after that my headlights started aligning themselves totally downward. The other day I had a shop realign them. A day later, they are right back to pointing down again. I can't see crap at night.. my fogs reach further.
Anyone experience this and know what the heck is the deal??

There is a VAG procedure for reseting the "zero" postion. That might help. Or....
the leveling motor is not connected to the adjustment piece in the housing. I installed e-codes and one of the sides popped out during install. It kept pointing low. I had to pull the headlight and re-install the leveling motor.

I have a feeling that I may have the second issue you pointed out. Is it difficult to do what you
described? "I had to pull the headlight and re-install the leveling motor."

Not verydifficult...once you've done it. Here is a brief overview....
There are 3 screws that hold in the headlights. The 2 on top and one down the side by the fender. A magnetic retrieval tool helps get the third one in and out.
Remove the screws, unplug the connections and remove the housing assembly. The rest of this is from memory, so I hope it is correct. The leveling motor is on the back of the housing on the side toward the center of the car (maybe other corner). the motor is a twist and then pull. It rotates about 60 degrees and then can be pulled out. If it pulls right out, then it is not connected. The end of the motor has a ball on it. This ball snaps into the adjustment piece inside the housing. If the ball is not locked in place, then then the motor will pull right out. If the motor is "stuck" in the housing, then it is likely attached. It is trial and error to get the motor snapped into the housing adjustment, but it will snap into place. Then re-install the motor, the harnesses, and the headlights.
