Splicing two wires together......
I'm eliminating the relay and splicing the ballast power wire with the previous lowbeam power wire in my xenon retrofit kit. question:
One one side of the splice there is one brown sheath and one red sheath. On the other side of the splice, there's one brown sheath and one black sheath. What's positive and negative here? I'm assuming RED = +ve always, and BLACK = -ve always, and brown is just "the other one". What do you guys think?

Your safest bet is to get a multimeter and test each one, or find a wiring diagram and look them up.
Guessing about it is dangerous, especially when dealing with expensive headlights...
