Started car last night and it's really running rough/misfires, not drivable...

No CEL or anything though, I've heard rumors it could be bad Ignition Control Units. (top of air box that wires plug into) Has anyone experienced these going bad on their own car?

if it is those, VAG your car. Figure out which bank is misfiring and then swap the wires.

If the misfires move to the other bank, there's your problem.

Yes, this happened to me. Did the vag, swap, vag dance to confirm, then it's a $250 part.

when those go bad you'll typically see a CEL...

as the number of misfires those things will generate will be enough to trip the light.

vag it first...even without a CEL, there are probably still some codes that will point you in the right direction.
