Default STFA, need more : Pro's & Con's of 225/45/17 vs 235/45/17?

I couldn't find any real differences in handling or more grip vs. the two...any suggestions? Is it best to go with stock 225?

Many TIA...

Default Are you sure about the 235/45/17? Shouldn't you go 235/40/17...

To maintain equal overall diameter...this stuff confuses me too...

Default I figure the diameter isn't all that important...

if all the wheels are the same size, and I'd buy a 5th for the spare. I'm looking to put more width on the road, however I don't want excessive rim damage. I'm going from 225/40/18's to either 235 or 225/45/17's.

I'd go 40 if I knew the rims could handle it.

Default 235/40 is a shorter sidewall than stock... depending on suspension that can be bad...

The difference between 225/45 Pirelli SnowSport 240V's and 235/40 S02's is enough to cause my car to scrape on a lot more driveways and speedbumps.

The 40's look good, but I wish I had 45's.

If you have a 8+" rim width and aren't lowered too far, you might get away with a 245/40

Default Good points. :-)

Now my next decision: 235/40 or 225/45? Stock rims have got to be better then my MM Action Sports...man do they suck.

Default I second dscott...you'd be changing...

you're overall diameter so your speedo would be off...you know what the second number means right?

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/general/size.htm
