I just returned from 2 track days at Mont Tremblant and encountered a problem with my 2000 S4 (GIAC chip, Borla Exhaust, mostly stock). The car ran fine on the 7 hour trek up to Tremblant and for the first 15 minutes on track, but then I felt a hesitation / power loss under full boost and got a blinking CEL.

VAG-COM said misfire in #1 - swapped plug and coilpack. Problem seemed solved (on street -- full throttle runs) until I got back on track. 15 minutes of hot lapping later...another blinking CEL under full boost/WOT and more misfires!

Lucky for me, a friend let me drive his '78 Porsche 930 for a few sessions while I mulled over the problem with my car!

Nothing quite like passing a 2004 GT3 and a 2003 911 Turbo...with 5 cylinders firing!

Thoughts? Advice??

if the misfire still doesn't move...get a compression test done.
