Strength of Rims...
I did a search through the archives (I fear those RTFM and Try a Search guys.. ) and found this pretty good post:

I was just wondering if the durability of these rims has gotten any better? I have some pretty crappy roads around me and fear getting another bent rim. Right now I really like the 17" OZ SL's, but the cost is making me think harder about those cheaper guys.
Thoughts?
Alternatives to those OZ's around the same price?

My experience in this is limited, but I think I can at least help you find more info. Think about the two extremes: One one side, there are the rims that are extremely rigid. Not desireable, because they crack, On the other side, there are rims that are too soft (interestingly enough, the German TÜV requires softness and not elasticity so they do not crack at all, but instead bend to avoid sudden loss of pressure!) to be used. They would bend all over. So the truth is somewhere in between, and if you now have a look at hardness and elasticity of materials, you can see why there are different alloys with different treatments to either harden them, or make them elastic. I threw away my TÜV certified Ronal R28s a while ago because they bent so easily that it was nearly impossible to maintain roundness. So you might search for material hardness and elasticity coefficients.

are you looking for weight? style? strength?
pound per pound, you're not going to find a much stronger wheel than the OZ SL's. Of the wheels that match or beat the SL, they're going to cost quite a bit more. It's a pretty damn good bang for your buck as a solid, reliable wheel.
There's nothing wrong with the less expensive wheels but you with some brands, you may find that their wheels tend to bend easier which can lead to $100/wheel repair. One repair job will most likely cover the cost difference of getting an SL wheel over a lesser wheel.

for summer I highly suggest the OZ's.... OZ IMO makes some of the best wheels in the world.........
Not design but their manufactuing process is 2nd to none. For 17's especially, I have the 18's and many other people on the board have them as well. I have only seen one report of any OZ being severly bent or cracked due to normal use. Taking this into account their are other wheels with better designs or cheaper. IMO your not just bying the look your buying the confidence of a company that competes in F1, WRC and Lemans to name a few. I hope this helps and FWIW I love my OZ's.... :-)
